Yoga retreats are very suitable for someone who is very new to Yoga and would like to make the first step in the path of Yoga. During the few days of intensive course and talks about yoga practice and it’s philosophy, one can understand much about the fundamental practice of Yoga and it’s teachings and meanings.
For people who are already into yoga practice but wish to go deeper into the practice and want to understand more about the philosophy of Yoga, attending one or a few yoga retreats are also a very efficient way for us to focus on yoga practice for that period of time and concentrate on our own self. It is a very good opportunity for us to learn to let go of our personal lives for a while and help us to develop detachment towards our belongings, enjoyments, relationships and familiar routines in our daily lives.
In our yoga retreats, we do not intend to pamper anyone with luxury comforts and sensual enjoyments. During a yoga retreat, everyone has to learn about selflessness, self-control, self-reliance, patience, forgive, acceptance, tolerance, adjustment, accommodation, sharing, gratitude, appreciation, simplicity, detachment, letting go, compassion, wisdom, openness, positive thinking and courage.
Usually after a normal holiday trip, we will feel so exhausted and stressed due to the inputs that we received from the journey and rushing for visiting many places of interest. It doesn’t really gives our body and the mind a breakaway and to relax. But a good yoga retreat is truly a “retreat” that allows our body and the mind getting a good rest and true relaxation.
It is a very efficient purification process for the body and mind. It re-energizes our body and calms the mind. It brings lightness, pure inputs and fresh energy into our system. During the retreat and intense practice, we are releasing some of the emotional knots in our body and mind. We will learn how to cope with all these past emotional memories and experiences, and free ourselves from them.
Our yoga retreats and courses here in Langkawi, Malaysia is emphasizing on yoga philosophy, relaxation, asana, pranayama (control of breath) and meditation. But most important, what we want to emphasize is the yoga philosophy that can help a person to understand the mind and how to be happy in life.
Our faith and confidence increase tremendously after this few days retreat and we will realize that actually our body and our mind can do so much more than what we thought we could do. Most people have a totally different perspective about life and about Yoga after they had attended a yoga retreat or just a yoga class with us.
It is like people are bringing a heavy backpack full of physical, mental and emotional tensions with them coming to the retreat and they will go home with a light backpack full of joy and faith and new energy.
While some people might have resistance in letting go of the ego, pride and arrogance, craving and aversion, and be disturbed by their own dissatisfying restless mind.
